A month or so ago I asked you guys to help me choose a mirror for my vanity area in my new office/workspace. While I really loved all of the mirrors, I went with the Ablenay Mirror from Lamps Plus because I thought it would really work well with my Italian lamps, as well as add to the vintage Italian/Modern vibe I’m creating in the space.

While I do love the mirror, it actually took a week or so to get used to. And sometimes I look at it and still wonder if it’s the right choice for the space. I love that the curved edges mimic the lines of the lamps, but the varnish on it is much darker and more bronze than I originally hoped for. While it does match the base of the lamps perfectly I thought it would be brighter & more brass/gold in color. It also has a shield-like feeling to it, which I wasn’t sure I loved in this space in particular. I’m living with it for now but it may end up in the hallway upstairs, where my gold stumps and all things British have found a home.

As you can see, I’ve re-used my three old Ikea dressers again to create a vanity of sorts and with my Grandma’s vintage italian lamps and my new wall mirror, I like the feeling I’m getting from it. I replaced the old lamps shades with sleek black drum shades from Lamps Plus a few years ago and am still loving the look.

My new office space is almost 4 times the size of my last office {including closet and bathroom space} and I couldn’t be happier to have my entire business contained in one space. The white round table you see above used to reside in our old kitchen and I had to drag all my supplies from my office out to the table into the kitchen, to do my DIYs or any project I was working on. And now, it’s all in one place and it’s so much more convenient and efficient! Lamps Plus sent me these fabulous black S chairs inspired by the original Panton chair which I still have in white opposite my desk {which mostly serves as a foot rest while I am working}.
Since my new office also has my walk-in closet, which is where I get dressed, and since much of my work is centered around fashion, it’s helpful to have my wardrobe and office all in one place, much like my last office… but nice that I can contain my getting-ready-mess in my closet rather than exploding all over my work space.

I searched high and low for blush or pink silk curtains or drapes and FINALLY found a place where I could custom order them at Half Priced Drapes and bought 8 of them. I still haven’t decided if I’m going to pinch-pleat them and/or add rings and I still plan on creating a DIY tiebacks for the side panels in the near future.
My office is not entirely done yet, but I’ll be posting more areas of it soon. I’ve used much of the same furniture as in my last office but have added a lot more as well, for instance, my old Ikea Expedit desk system now also has another set of black Expedit shelves to store all my craft, fabric, and DIY supplies in {they used to work as a living room/den divider in our last house}
Here’s a glimpse of my desk space… see the white Panton chair as well as the old chairs that came with the kitchen table…

OOh – congrats on the office! In our last place I had a little “cave” I could do my dastardly deeds in 😉 I think that’s important.

Your office space is incredible! It’s wonderful that you are able to have your closet in the same room. Talk about convenient!

It looks fantastic!!

Beautiful room! Technical question? Is your room carpeted? If so do you have issues with the zebra rug buckling?
We have rug on carpet under a fairly heavy antique round table and the rug does not sit flat.

i agree with you that the mirror should likely move to the British hallway. Your shield comment is what convinced me. what a fun office though!! Good for you!

HI Michelle P!
Yes, it’s carpeted in a short shag at the moment… but the zebra rug is really thick, so I have no problem with buckling. It’s thinner rugs that tend to do this usually. Or maybe your table is just really heavy?

Looks gorgeous and glam as usual! Although… that’s not a surprise. 😉

Love the space … try turning the mirror upside down, you might like the shape that way! Question … how do your manage your time? Iphone, computer, paper … all three? Just curious … thanks for the DIY, too!

Are the lamps sitting in front of/covering the edge of the outer scrolls of the mirror? If yes, move the lamps out further. If you move them out, the mirror will look larger and look like it fits the space; it will also look like it was meant for the space instead of being ‘squished’ in there. In other words, the mirror needs more of its own space to feature it properly. 🙂

omfg! LOVE LOVE LOVE!
the only thing that might possibly make it better is if TOM FORD was sitting in one of the chairs next to his book (and he brought you free clothes, shoes, makeup, etc.). 🙂

I have office envy. I just moved from a 3 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom apartment so I don’t have my office anymore 🙁
Great work with decorating… you have so many talents!

One word: LOVELY. I love how everything is set at the right place. Pink looks dainty in an office space—nevertheless, everything’s gorgeous! Great job.
