DIY Brass Birds // How To Make Large Animal Decorative Figurines

DIY Brass Birds Figurines

A few weeks ago I bought this metal 2 Piece Crane Décor Set for $45 at Joss & Main to sort of satiate my Large Animal Statues & Figurines obsession {because I just can’t justify spending hundreds on one} in my Home Office Sitting Area.

When they arrived, however, in opposite colors of how they were shown listed for sale, they looked more like cheesy {but fun} outdoor garden decorations. The problem with that is I wanted them to look like chic indoor decorations… and so my first thought was to paint them mostly gloss black with gold leaf accents. But instead I just went for it with the gold spray paint and loved the look, so I left them. I fancied them up a bit with a few vintage colorful rhinestone necklaces and added a few real feathers to one with some leftovers I had from my Feather Wall Art Juju hat DIY… and I’m in love.

I found the same set on sale here: Crane Complements Traditional and Modern Decor – Set of 2 $87 if you wanted to do this project yourself {or wait & see if they go on sale again at J&M}

Obviously this doesn’t need a tutorial… I just spray painted them gold, but I thought I’d share anyway.

The beak on the tall one arrived smashed as well, so I straightened it out with pliers.

The sitting area in my office….

The opposite side of this area below. The gold leaf floor lamp is from Lamps Plus. I separated the chairs and added the gray striped Fouta Towels for a little contrast.

It’s evolving… slowly… as is the rest of the house 😉

Have Fun!
