My Beauty Routine From Start to Finish | Makeup & Hair

Waving Hair, Beauty Routine

Though I don’t do this beauty routine everyday because, well let’s face it, I work from home and honestly, I’m pretty low maintenance on those days. Now, I wouldn’t say I stay in my pajamas all day, but that’s only because I don’t really wear pajamas. I simply like to refer to my work at home outfits as cute lounge-wear, mostly stretchy and always comfortable.

But on the days that do prepare myself to leave the house and venture out into the big wide open {and when I had job outside of the house, this routine was the same} it takes about 30 minutes from start to finish. I’ve done a quickie natural makeup video tutorial that takes about half the time, but it doesn’t include hair. I actually tend to break up my beauty routine a little more than I’m able to show, as I’ll get half of my makeup done, then do part of my hair, then back to finishing my makeup, but you get the gist of it.

Enjoy!

psst! I have a post from a few years ago using many of the same products and a few different ones, with a video of my 10 minute easy makeup routine if you’d rather watch than scroll.

So yeah, as you can see, on the left is me without makeup and my hair up in a bun.

beauty-makeup-routine-1-1

First I wash my face with Neutrogena liquid facial cleansing formula. At night I use this to remove makeup and then a quick scrub of Proactiv to exfoliate.

Foundations tend to get a little too stuck in my fine lines and make them look not so fine, so I squeeze my Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream AND Juara Sweet Black Tea and Ginger Mattefying Moisturizer both on my hand, mix/rub together, then apply to my face almost like I would a lotion, then patting to set it in place in certain areas.

Next I apply my mineral powder by Jane Iredale. I use two different brushes {the dome brush and the blending brush} and don’t overdo it, but it’s a nice way to set my BB cream and moisturizer mix.

With yet another brush from Jane Iredale, the powder brush, I apply my bronzing powder Hoola by benefit to my eyelids first, then to my cheeks {not the apples, the sunken area below} and my neck.

Then it’s eyeshadow time… I received this Sonia Kashuk eye shadow palette to review last year and I love it so much I still use it! I use nearly every color in it to get a great blend. I start with the lightest all over my lids, then begin building the darker colors into the corners to give my hooded eyes more depth. I also take it around the edges and up and then along the bottom lash line as well. I usually stay with neutral colors in browns and rusty peaches to complement my blue eyes and make them pop. I use the gray in the top center nearest my lashes then out and the black at night to get more dramatic eyes.

Eyebrows… occasionally I’ll skip the pencil and use my light brown eye shadow and a fine brush to shade in my brows but mostly I use this blonde creamy pencil by Lorac to brush them up, color them in and set them in place with clear brow gel by Anastasia Beverly Hills.

I curl my eyelashes before my mascara with this Japonesque precision curler. It’s short and flat and works wonders on short, straight lashes like I have. I can curl them in three different sections to get them to stand up instead of out.

Then I line my eyes with Chanel precision black liner {not seen} and CoverGirl black liner and use the little smudger on the opposite end to blend it in for a light smokey daytime eye. I almost always do a smokey eye, even when I do a cat-eye, I can’t help but blend it all into a smokey goodness.

After my eyeliner, I usually curl my lashes one last time before applying my mascara. Also, I usually get dressed prior to adding mascara as well, it’s like a pre-final step, or maybe I’m just afraid of smudging it.

I use L’Oreal Double Extend Waterproof and add the creamy white conditioner first, then the black mascara after.

I’ve added 3D Fiber Lashes to my routine… they are AMAZING!! Check out my Moodstruck lashes review here.

Waving the hair… taking it from straight to waved. I tend to wash my hair the day before, let it air dry then wave it the following day for the best results. See how I’ve got half up though? I usually do the bottom half after I finish my eyebrows… when that’s done, I go back to finishing my makeup. But for this, I did it all at the end.

After I finish curling all my hair, I usually clip the front up to let it cool, then I use this Keratin Complex Dry Shampoo for Blonde Hair if I want a little extra volume, or just to lighten my roots a little. I love it!

pink lip gloss

I let my hair down and let if fall where it pleases and just before I leave I apply lip gloss. If I’m being fancy I’ll add a nude lip liner first, but mostly I’m lazy and just go for the gloss. My favorites are LipFusion in Sweet and Bare and Sally Hansen Lip Inflation because I LOVE how they both tingle a little and taste good too.

And… Voila!

And that’s it… from start to finish, my beauty routine.

I like that you make it sound so easy and fast :) I wish I did such a full beauty routine more often but before my morning coffee the whole world is guilty of waking me up for work. Just curious: are you naturally blond? I loved your tips for boosting the hair volume, too!
