Loving you forever, can't be wrong...

emerald green blouse, sleeveless trench leather coat, leopard print bag, winter style

What I'm Wearing...

* Sleeveless trench coat ~ Marc by Marc Jacobs {technically sold as a dress, but it's as thick as my Burberry trench, sans the lining} see it here ... {similar here for $67}...
* Leather moto jacket ~ Helmut Lang, worn under for warmth and to create the leather sleeved trench look {found originally at GILT} see it entirely here
* Emerald green blouse ~ Zoe & Sam ~ GILT I have it in stripes and blush as well.
* Black skinny cords ~ Blank Denim {I've literally bought these in almost every color}
* Furry slouchy hat ~ Bob Basics... so warm, so fab. I have it in 3 colors.
* Gold and black necklace ~ Kara by Kara Ross from the St. Barth's I-ella bag I curated
* Vintage sunglasses
* Lauren Merkin, Mini Marlow leopard print bag also from the I-ella bag I curated {you can sign up for the list here}
* Black suede tasseled loafers ~ Dolce Vita {one pair left at gilt size 5.5 for $39} - - these are a bit stiff at first but after the first wear, feel fine and comfy.

* Title: lyrics from Lana Del Rey "Dark Paradise" I'm obsessed with this album lately {and a little late to the party, admittedly}

I wore this out last week on a foggy and rainy day after all the snow had melted. I love my snow boots but it was fun to be able to wear regular shoes again... and it was warm enough to go without socks as well. And then the following evening it snowed again and now we have about 6inches of snow on the ground and it's back to snow boots. I'm telling you, getting dressed here is so much more fun. The weather changes your options daily! I love it.

Have you downloaded Vine yet? Twitter's new video app has been a buzzin' lately and everyone's jumping on it and how. I was apprehensive at first but of course I signed up, how could I not really? ... and then didn't post anything at all until just last night. It's really like Instagram but with short videos {so turn the volume on your phone on because it actually makes it more interesting}. I was merely testing it, so I added a video of my blog scrolling to music. And actually, it was more exciting than I thought it might be, and ultimately, one more creative outlet to keep you busy while you're bored at work ;) You should totally do it... find me: love Maegan {just like everywhere else, but with a space}

It's funny though, because there have been other apps that are really similar, why didn't they catch on like Vine? And just a heads up, there's a bit of a porn problem at the moment which I'm hoping they get settled asap. You can check out the Vine app blog here and sign up here.

Major Shoe Porn : Spring Fling...

black and white striped heels, alice+olivia shoes

As much as I am LOVING our new snowy winter wonderland, the idea of feeling my bare feet on the ground with freshly pedicured toes, is very exciting for this Summer lover. Living in LA my entire life, I absolutely took for granted the ability to wear flip flops and sandals year round. Even if it was a chilly day, the sun would shine long enough during the winter months to afford a few hours of bare feet or open toed shoes. So while I would argue that we did indeed have seasons in LA, they were clearly only visible ones. Yes, the leaves would turn warm tones in the Fall and yes, it would get cold in the Winter, but it never meant that I couldn't wear anything that was in my closet at any time. Admittedly, these more extreme weather conditions that have forced me into double pairs of socks and snow boots for the last month and the coming months, has me really anticipating the warmer Spring and Summer, and not just because I'll get to spend the Summer on the lake, but because I get to wear really cute clothes doing so ;).

New...

* Alice + Olivia ~ Dina black & white striped heels... I have these in black snakeskin and love the way they fit {shoe post here and wearing them here & here & here}. When I saw the black and white striped version, I had to have them. There's a new pink floral pair I'm dying for too...
* Miu Miu blush sandals {similar here for $278} which I found on GILT... they're timeless sandal really and so pretty {they also come in black & ivory & black and silver}
* Alexander Wang ~ leopard print wallet. Just because it's fabulous and I like to switch up my wallets before they get too worn. {so I can have/use them forever ;}

Not so new...

* My Casadei leopard print peep toe platforms {also a GILT find} are just so pretty, they're like art. I look at them more than I wear them... see me wearing them here, here, & here.

Currently Obsessed : Large Animal Statues...

I have an area in my new office that is desperately in need of a vintage animal statue at least 24" tall. And since I decided that the other day, I've been OBSESSIVELY searching for the perfect fit. Now, if I were say, looking for a bear or eagle wood carved sculpture, I could literally drive five minutes down the road and own one. Unfortunate as it may be, a woodland creature is not the animal I had in mind, and so my hunt continues.

I found an absolute favorite on Ebay last week {No.1 below} listed at $325 with a $110 shipping and just couldn't justify the cost {even though I'll spend more on a single bag or pair of shoes, which I cannot justify either}. I was secretly hoping this fabulous spotted cat wouldn't garner any bids and then I'd contact the seller with a lower price and have it for myself. But alas, it sold, with one single bidder. And in my obsessive search, I may have spent nearly as much on smaller, lower-priced animal figurines I'm hoping I won't regret upon arrival.

Though they are hard to come by, if you're willing to fork over the cash, there are plenty of other amazingly gorgeous animal statues around, {it's particularly the vintage Italian style I'm looking for, though a hilarious option is always welcome}. In fact, I'm almost tempted to buy a cheapy plaster or resin version and just paint it myself! And somehow, in the middle of all of this, I am reminded of my childhood, when I would have traded my left arm to have a certain life-sized carousel horse in my bedroom.

This outfit was part of a 3-in-1 look I did with jeans and a white t-shirt {kind of like last year's 30 Days, 30 Ways Denim Challenge} for a new web video/ad for the Tide series wherein you get a sneak peek into my new walk-in closet {EEK!}. This was one of the looks {well, part of it} and the most appropriate to wear out considering the weather and to walk down to the lake for some final shots as well as an outfit post, obviously ;)

But since I can't help being completely honest, you should know that I didn't actually walk down the icy roads in these boots, I wore my Crocs snow boots and changed once we landed in our final destination-location... Is it no fun that I take all the mystery out by telling you these things, or would you prefer to see the reality of it?

See some behind the scenes shots below and a little look into my new office.

My InstaLife : Week 1/21-1/27 in Photos

Find me on Instagram to see these in real time.

little red riding hood healthy snack
fog through the trees leopard print bag and tasseled loafers

1. Looks like Little Red Riding Hood stopped for a bite before heading to her Grandmother's...
2. New favorite snack {wasa wheat crackers with cream cheese} is evolving {with avocado & sprouts} Next up, tomatoes.
3. The amazingly thick fog through the trees is a challenge to drive through but beautiful to look at.
4. Leopard print Lauren Merkin bag {from my i-Ella bag} and tasseled loafers out in the rain yesterday... it was warm enough to skip socks! {see my burgundy striped version here}

watching tv above the fire ice cream scoop, tony fitzpatrick art
French Bulldog in a sweatshirt pale manicure, nails, rings

1. I wasn't feeling optimal on Friday, and ended up on the sofa for much of the early evening and into the night... even through countless episodes of Ancient Aliens, thanks to the husband. I finally went upstairs and started Downton Abbey, season one. I'm about 2.5 episodes in. Not hooked yet, but really hoping to be soon. {already inspired to DIY from it though}
2. My favorite way to eat ice cream {which of course I learned from my mom at a very early age}... the bigger the scoop on the spoon, the more of a balancing act. With my Tony Fitzpatrick "King of Penny Poker" etching in the background.
3. As I was trying to photograph LeRoy sleeping in the sun, he caught me and got up, and then I caught him with his tongue out. WinWin.
4. My pale nails tutorial from last week.

coffee cup, chocolate outfit, hair
regrow orchids lake, beach

1. A favorite coffee mug I found at a car wash years ago... I loved the quote {similar mug here} and my dark chocolate covered nut clusters from the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, that I am now addicted to and eat daily sipping the final drops of my coffee.
2. An outfit post from last week when we still had snow.
3. I thought that being without a kitchen window in our new house, my orchids would surely die BUT I've found that the lights under my kitchen cabinets work VERY well at faking sunshine and I have 3 orchids with new stems right now. CLICK HERE to see how I regrow my orchids.
4. Last Sunday my mom drove up for a little visit and we took a walk and found an area where the waves crashed upon a beachy shore and with its little wake waves, created a very beach-like environment. It was beautiful. We sat on a little bench for what seemed like decades just chatting and looking over the lake, listening to the waves crash. It's truly special being surrounded by natural beauty all the time vs traffic and smog and noise pollution {sorry Los Angeles, I thought I'd never say it but I don't miss you in the least}

Happy Sunday Lovecats!

Spring 2013 Fashion Trends : 8. Random Ruffles...

With so many clean lines and minimalistic collections on the Spring runways, the random frilly ruffle here and there was like a pop of color in a sea of black and white ensembles. Next up in my Spring 2013 Fashion Trends refresher series is jut that, the random yet large ruffle, that popped up around the neck and hemline, and everywhere in between. In many looks, it was seemingly pointless and lonely, but added just the right amount of femininity to the sleek lines. It's like the big ruffle met the peplum and decided it wanted to be anywhere but the waist. I'm kind of loving it though. Gucci and Givenchy are faves! Which are your favorites?
