Little Things that Upgrade the Everyday w/ Ecco Domani

lovemaegan for ecco domani

As part of my partnership with Ecco Domani, last Tuesday evening I took over their Instagram account for a little over and hour and flooded it with photos of my home {and their yummy wine, of course} sharing little tips and tricks I do to make every day a little more extraordinary and special.

And just in case you missed it, I’ve recapped it here.

potted hydrangeas

I ADORE fresh flowers in my home, but cut flowers get expensive and then die in a week & leave a smelly mess to clean up. I always opt for a potted plant like this hydrangea {$8.99} or orchids that last for months with pretty blooms as long as you take care of them. And when they go dormant, you can plant them in your garden. So many levels of awesome.

I LOVE finding special, different, & unique glassware at vintage shops & even if it’s just a set of two, I can never pass them up. And rather than keeping them hidden in my cupboards, I use them! And even if they aren’t necessarily the correct glass for the drink, it makes it all feel a little more special.

nathalia edenmont flower print-master bedroom

One of my favorite sitting areas in our house is right here in our master bedroom… I based the color scheme of the room on this large Nathalia Edenmont flower print which was also a wedding gift. The combination of sentiments makes it special and I smile whenever I see it and/or relax in the space.

ecco domani pinot grigio-heart etched glasses

I originally created these DIY Heart Etched Wine Glasses for Valentine’s day, but they could work for wedding parties, anniversaries, or every day. Etching glass is super easy, so customize your simple glassware to make them a bit more fabulous.

ribbons as bookmarks-ecco domani wine

I still prefer reading actual books to digital ones… there’s just something a little more romantic about it to me & gives my eyes a break from the screens I look at all day… I make my own bookmarks by simply cutting pretty ribbons & and it makes it just a little more special.

gold stump and merlot

I love a little humor in my home… Our long upstairs hallway is full of silly things that make me smile every time I walk by! I love using vintage books as decor too… You can find them for pennies in thrift shops and in this case, the old bindings match my chairs. It’s an affordable way to bring color and culture into a space. The little moose print on my gold stump side table reads “nice rack”.

These are my favorite coasters & I made them! I simply found a yard of upholstery fabric (because it’s thicker!), cut squares w/ pinking shears & stitched the cute pom pom trim around the edges. Such a simple & affordable way to create something unique that matches your home decor! … And a quick coat of cheery nail polish always brightens my day… Find the full DIY Pom Pom Coasters here

What little things do you do that make your everyday special?

* Because it’s the little things that upgrade the ordinary, don’t you think?

I love this recap! I didn’t see it on Instagram, so it’s such a great idea that you shared it here (not that I would expect anything less 😉

Hmmmm, to elevate everyday to make them more special I wear jewelery and shoes that are deemed ‘special occassion’ or ‘fancy’. While I have a tendency to save things for ‘the perfect day/time/occassion’, I try to remind myself too that I should just enjoy it now instead. Why not!?

I like the potted hydrangea, it really spruces up a desk or table.

To add some sparkle to my day, I pour over books, magazines and periodicals that peak my interest, particularly high end items…then hub and I sit down and re-design those items into something more affordable for us. Our next project is refurbishing an older wood door into a coat rack complete with cubbies for shoes.

Such great ideas- I’ve been trying to find ways to make my days more special too; I’ve gotten into this mindset that at this point in my life (I’m single- broke up with a cheating fiance about 4 months ago, renting out a guest cottage on my family’s property, working two part time jobs and getting ready to go to grad school in a few months) that “special things” don’t have a place in my life right now. And I want them too! I need to work on changing my mindset around it.
