I’m Vlogging Now, I think… Ask Me Anything & Let’s Chat!

lovemaegan vlog series

While I’ve done many Youtube videos over the years as a blogger, I’ve never done a vlogging series, and I’ve been thinking about sitting down casually and doing this for about a year and I’m just finally getting around to it now.

I filmed this yesterday afternoon sitting at my desk in my studio, and really loved the ease of it… note that for Youtube and people who don’t know me, I introduce myself and my blog, just fyi. As you’ll see in the video, I’ve been feeling a bit lost work-wise for a while now and am trying to figure out which direction to go… and since many of you have been on this journey with me since 2008 or so, I thought why not kind of get to know each other again with some real, down-to-earth chit chat? Maybe someday I can figure out how to livestream and take questions in the moment, like on Periscope or something, but for now I thought a vlogging Q&A type of exchange would hopefully be a fun new weekly series to spark my creativity again and maybe offer a bit of guidance to you as well.

We can talk about blogging, life, fertility, women’s issues, men’s issues, fashion, style, hair, makeup… WHATEVER YOU WANT! I think it will be fun to see what you guys wanna know about as well as get my wheels turning in a new way SO…

leave your questions in the comment section here or on Youtube {or Twitter/Facebook/Instagram} and next week I’ll film a little answer sesh where I’ll choose a 1-3 questions to answer in my next vlog. I just want to keep the videos under 5minutes, so basically I’ll answer as many questions as I can under 5.

Also, if you want me to include your handles or your blogs, etc. in my videos and/or linked from posts, be sure to include them with your questions! But if you want to be kept anonymous, you can email me at [email protected] and I’ll answer you just as well without revealing your identity 🙂

Watch below & enjoy this real talk blog chat with me… and ask me anything for next week!

If you can’t see the video above go to: A Few Minutes with Maegan // Blog Chat & watch it on Youtube.

You could always do a re-brand and revamp everything or do a new blog! Sounds daunting but if it’s fun and you enjoy it that’s all that matters. <3 Good luck!

First, thank you for being honest and open. As a lady in her 30s who has finally dived into the blogging pool after years of secretly wanting to take the plunge, it’s very refreshing to see someone admit it may not have all worked out as planned.

Second, I think you have done an amazing job of turning your blog into more of an editorial destination. I’ve been visiting since ’09, and have never commented, but have loved all of the content.

I can see how it’s difficult to stay authentic and be sponsored at the same time, but as a newbie I’d love to learn more about how you managed to make this work. Maybe your new adventure could be teaching?!

GUUURRRRLLLL — I SO feel you!! <3 I have been thinking this SAME thing!! I love my blog, but I haven't been about it so far this year. It's weird, and I don't know EXACTLY what caused the shift, but something's shifted for sure, and I think it's that blogs are very brand-focused now (like you said) and yeah, maybe we just haven't completely figured out 'our brand'. Or we are so unbrandable and non-niche-y that when we try to brand and niche it up, it gets boring…I don't know. I've been in between Typepad and Squarespace…ready to grow from Typepad, but not completely feeling Squarespace…and so while this confusion goes on in internet land, good things are happening in my real life, which — you'd think I'd be excited to blog about and build my lifestyle blog around — but I'm at a point where I've just been wanting to enjoy it…NOT have to put into words about it…but YOU'RE RIGHT!! I so used to being about sharing my life and good things on my blog, and I'm wondering what changed. Could it be as simple as Instagram's been enough? I don't know.

So thrilled you're vlogging. Cheers to trying something new!

    Hi Maegan,
I am one of those following you from the beginning and I do miss sometimes the more personal and raw content of the blog at that time. It’s great that you are trying to find new ways of manifesting yourself and I hope you feel all the support from your followers along this path! Here goes my question and I hope you don’t find it too personal. Nowadays most bloggers travel the world advertising hotel suites and flying companies. I remember you mentioning that flying made you really anxious. My question is how are you coping with this situation; have you accepted it as it is? Or is it something you would like to change in your life? If so, you would be more than welcome in Spain! Cheers!

So many things to say!!! First of all, I’ve been following along since you worked at the art gallery and were taking pics with your foot up on the desk. Must’ve been around 2010? And girl…I FEEL YA. I have also been feeling uninspired for probably the last year. My blog started becoming too much work for the amount of money I was making. Plus I’ve been struggling with the work/family life balance. And now that the blogoshpere is SO saturated, it’s just kind of hard to keep up. I really feel that our age group/demographic is struggling even more because blogs/social media are dominated by twenty somethings. But I am SO happy to see you vlogging. Everything has become so staged and impersonal that it’s refreshing to see snapchat & videos IRL. I actually bought a whole lighting kit/backdrop, etc. probably about 6mo ago and I haven’t even opened the package. But seeing this post has inspired me to take it out again. Not sure I could stomach watching myself on video though! LOL. So I guess my questions for you would be…what equipment did/do you use to shoot your video(s)? What program do you use to edit them? Or does Youtube allow you to upload & edit? Can’t wait to follow along in this new series!

    XOXO, Jenn

You are SUCH a California girl! Totally adorable – just loved the video! I really hope this reignites your spark. I’d really hate to see you leave the blogosphere. I wish I had an intriguing question, but I don’t. (Maybe next week!) I also would love to know where the term “bobes” came from so I hope you answer that one!

Maegan, you are the one who inspired me to blog about what i love… beauty. To see you go would be a tremendous loss to the blogging world! You are an incredible talent! Really, your blog is like no other! I know how the whole book thing panned out but is there any way you’d think about creating a book of DIY’s? I think you are so creative and come up with ideas that i’m like ‘wow… genius’! I’d LOVE to read a collection of your diy’s… plus style, design and beauty secrets of course! Please don’t stop and yay for vlogging! I love that… i’ll be watching for sure! Xoxox, Carla

Maegan, I know what you mean about blogging changing since 2007. I can’t tell you how many blogs I’ve started and closed. I actually took a break from all blogs since Feb. It’s just now that I have decided to rejoin the blog world because I truly miss it. This time I am doing it just for me…for the love of writing. Not the brands.

My question is about your DIY projects. I have always admired them. How do you pick which ones to do? Where do you get your inspiration for the DIY?

    Looking forward to more vlogs!
