A Happy Place for Mom // Cocoon by Sealy Mattress in a Box + Giveaway!

Cocoon by Sealy reached out to collaborate a few months ago and offered to send me a new mattress as part of our partnership. Now, as much as I would have LOVED to try out this new Cocoon by Sealy mattress, I really didn’t need a new mattress for the master bedroom or for any of the guest rooms, since we purchased new ones when we moved into our house just a few years ago. And even though this mattress is far superior to the ones we currently have, getting rid of a perfectly good mattress makes me cringe just a little, because waste -you know?

My mom and stepdad, however, who just recently moved into their new home up here by the lake, have expressed to me how much they really, desperately, needed a new mattress since theirs was over ten years old, and now wildly uncomfortable. Though they have trouble sleeping on it each night, they’re not really in the position financially to invest in a new mattress, so they were just dealing with it.

Luckily, Cocoon by Sealy agreed to let me give my mom and stepdad a new mattress to replace their old one and I literally COULD NOT WAIT to surprise them with the delivery. AND, not only do they get a brand new mattress upgrade, I get to makeover and decorate their bedroom to create a perfectly happy place for them to rest comfortably in. It’s a win-win because they haven’t really known what to do with their master bedroom space to make it more than just a place to sleep in and I LOVE that I get to come in and create that escape for them. The before and after is going to be FABULOUS and they’re going to love their new bedroom hopefully as much as they love their new mattress.

But I digress… I have to admit that I didn’t do too much research about the Cocoon by Sealy mattress in a box situation after agreeing upon the terms.

So last Wednesday, while I was getting my hair done, I quickly texted my stepdad letting him know that “something” would be delivered, assuming it would be as large as a California King mattress and he’d figure out what it was upon delivery. He promptly texted me back a photo of the box that had been delivered by UPS.

I raced over to their house as soon as my hair was done to share in the excitement.

At a height and width of something I could quite literally wrap my arms around, and just under 92lbs, I really could not fathom how a Cal-King mattress was inside this {15″ x 15″ x 44″} box!

After removing their old mattress from the bed, we simply followed the ridiculously simple steps of unboxing the mattress, setting it on the bed frame, and removing the plastic – and quite literally marveled as the mattress basically bloomed into its full sized Cal-king glory in just a few minutes.

Within 30 minutes the Cocoon by Sealy mattress had raised another inch and according to the instructions, was completely ready for sleeping on. It was really that easy.

The pretty white sateen cover has a beautiful quilted design along the top and sides, finished with charcoal grey at the head and foot. It’s one of those mattresses that’s so beautiful, you don’t really even want to cover it up with sheets.

By the following day, my mom said the mattress had risen about another full inch, and was a dream to sleep on.

Mom and Barry are already in love with their new mattress and are so grateful to have gotten rid of the old one for this fantastic upgrade.

Personally, I can’t wait to go back over to give their master bedroom a full makeover, creating a complete retreat and a happy place to escape into emotionally, visually, and comfortably.

I love to throw open our French doors and let a beautiful breeze in to make my room my happy place. I also love snuggling in pillows in my bed with a good book (: A comfy mattress seals the deal for that!

Just having a new mattress would make my bedroom a happy place. When I bought my house I didn’t have much money left so I sprung for a cheap mattress that gets more uncomfortable as the days go on. I’ve added the egg crate to the top and it helps a little but not much and I can not tell you the last time I slept thru the night. Having a new, comfortable mattress would definitely make my bedroom a happy place!

This would be amazing to win! I can’t tell you how bad my fiancé and I need a new mattress! We’ve had the same one since college years ago. Unfortunately we’re not in the financial situation to purchase a new one after most of our savings went to vet bills after our 10 year old boxer had a near heart attack and had to be hospitalized for almost a week. This would be a blessing and mean so much to us!

My bedroom is not currently my happy place, but its getting there! I just ripped up the old carpet last night (there is hardwood underneath!) and am getting ready to start painting the walls (Gray Wisp by Benjamin Moore). I know that once I get a fresh coat of paint on the walls, a cozy area rug, and hopefully a new Cocoon by Sealy mattress my bedroom will be a much needed oasis.

Making it my happy place would be painting it in beautiful neutral colors with pops of blue, having great art of the walls, and having a mattress comfortable enough to get me to sleep in minutes. Right now, it is only a happy place because i share it with my husband 🙂

A new mattress would very much help my bedroom transform into a happier place! I’m a single mom, and somehow I always come last on the totem pole in terms of purchasing priorities! 🙂 But that’s okay. I’m planning on painting my room a happier color this spring – a lovely, light blue – that will also hopefully help me to get to sleep earlier (did you know blue is the best color for inducing sleep!?!). I’m also planning on adding some plant life and a window box!

I would incorporate things that inspire and bring joy. There is no better thing to drive your day than beginning and finishing the day with things that make you happy and make you want to improve. Inspiring things, as the word defines, will not only ignite but supplement one’s fire to keep going, keep working. The cheerful things, again as the word defines, start and end your day on a good note, which is quite necessary on brutal days.
